History Border Paving Ltd. is a family owned and managed asphalt paving company which has continued to expand and learn over the years, growing into the company it is today. Border Paving Ltd. was incorporated in Alberta in 1955, the first of a number of subsidiaries of Asphalt Services Ltd., located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Our Red Deer headquarters evolved from a 130 square foot skid shack in 1957 to a more palatial 300 square foot portable office which served as company headquarters from 1959 to 1965. In 1967 the company expanded to include a new 40-ton per hour portable plant to complement our initial 12-ton per hour portable plant, and the 80 ton per hour stationary asphalt plant which was set up in Red Deer in 1965. By 1974 the ownership association with Asphalt Services Ltd., had ended. With the experience and financial capability gained over the years, a stationary plant was installed in Camrose (1975), another in Hinton (1978) and a fourth stationary plant in Stony Plain (1986). The core operations of base and paving throughout Alberta now includes a modern fleet of road building equipment as well as more than 100 trucks that are instrumental in the self-sufficiency of our materials handling operations. There are more than 350 people employed each summer, including a year-round staff of 150 people. Over 40% of our people have more than 20 years of service.
